The APS and the VDS jointly held a SHANTI YATRA (peace journey) on Sunday 23rd August 2015. An appreciative crowd gathered at the VERULAM CLINIC at 08 H 00. The group comprised affiliates, members from the VERULAM & DISTRICT HINDU UNITY FORUM, the VERULAM DAY & FRAIL CARE patients and management, a local yoga group, DAWNCREST CIVIC group , a group of children from the orphanage and other faith based bodies.
The group proceeded with their banners and the chanting of the GAYTHREE MANTRA along TODD STREET and stopped briefly at the VERULAM DAY CARE CENTRE. Several participants joined along the way to the VEDIC HALL. We were honored to have DIDI ( sister from the priesthood ) who is from PATNA in INDIA. She welcomed the audience and addressed them about peace , humanity and living in harmony with nature. The Deputy President of the APS, JAY BALWANTH engaged with the audience and a very lively yoga session was conducted. This was greatly appreciated by all present.
The President of the APS (Dr. B. Rambilass) continued the theme with a lively talk on elements of nature. The inter-relationship between nature and humans is essential for the well being of all who inhabit the earth.
The audience enjoyed a wonderful session with Sister Elizabeth Gaywood from the TIBETAN BHUDDIST organization. She conducted a meditation class. She linked the walk with the yoga and the talk on elements of nature. She referred to the inter-connectedness of these relationships to produce harmony in nature and human existence.
The program was an ongoing series of events to celebrate the 30th ANNIVERSARY of the VEDA DHARMA SABHA (VERULAM). The occasion was also to highlight the ongoing violence in the country and to celebrate women’s month. The audience were served with a wonderful breakfast which was much appreciated.
